Berkley Board Game Day

Hey, board gamers in Southern Michigan! We are getting together in Berkley at Gate Keeper Games to play some games! There is a variety of games available to suit all ages and interests. Depending on how everyone is feeling, we can also follow up with grabbing dinner afterward!
For those who can’t wait to get to gaming, a JETAA board member will arrive at the venue early to hold a table, so feel free to stop by before 2 (although the venue opens at 1).

You are welcome to bring your own board games, but there are also games available on location to play (separate from the games they are selling), so don’t feel obligated to do so.

*Please be aware that we are reserving tables/chairs based on the number of people who are listed as “going” in this event. If you are a “maybe” you are of course welcome to come, but we cannot guarantee room because we will not be the only group playing at Gate Keepers. Thank you for understanding.

Wild Lights Detroit!

Happy holiday season everyone!
Snow may or may not be already falling in your area, but for those ready to be enlightened with good company, the Zoo Lights event is here! On Saturday, December 7th, we will be touring the beautiful displays at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak. Tickets are currently selling for $13 online or $19 at the gate and there is an $8 parking fee, so we recommend getting your tickets before prices start to rise. We also recommend carpooling if possible. We will be trying to enter at 7, so please try to arrive by 6:45. If you think you will be running late, contact Kyle Belanger on Facebook. He will be meeting everyone in front of the ticket gates. Feel free to direct any questions to him or another JETAA board member. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
Let’s イルミネーション!

Cat Cafes! Ohio and Michigan

Michigan
Location: Tiny Lions Lounge and Adoption Center
Date: Sunday, August 18, 2019
Time: 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Ohio
Location: AffoGATO Cat Cafe
Date: Sunday, August 18, 2019
Time: 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Let’s visiting cat cafés! Japan isn’t the only one with cat (and other animals) cafés! In fact, there are at least seven between Ohio and Michigan. Who’s up for visiting some kitties?! (Sorry, everyone. The cat pictured will not be available, as she currently lives with our Ohio Vice President.)

GLJETAA board members will be in Tiny Lions in Ann Arbor, and the Affogato Cat Cafe in Cleveland, and we would love for you to join us! However, we want to make sure this event is available to more people. We are trying to get more geosynchronous events going, so the below list also has two more cat cafes in the Buckeye and Wolverine State that have been proposed.

Important things to note are that each location has different policies, but they all strongly recommend reservations. They do allow walk-ins, though. They all have different fees, but they have one-hour options, which is what we remember from my days visiting nekos in Nihon.

See you there!
